Coaching to facilitate the assimilation of a new leader into an organization can be vital to the success of that new leader. It has been estimated that nearly half of all new leaders fail to meet the goals of the organization within the first 12-18 months.
Becky Clark has broad experience assisting new leader executives to make successful moves into senior positions. These transitions can be promotions within current employers or the onboarding of new hires.
New leader coaching helps the executive to focus on the factors contributing to a successful transition, and to avoid making critical mistakes. The primary areas of focus for successful onboarding include:
clearly understanding the requirements of the job from the perspective of the supervisor, as well as the “burning imperatives” to be accomplished;
establishing relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leaders, the new leader’s team, advisory committees, and other important stakeholders, both within and external to the organization;
creating a communication plan for the integration;
identifying opportunities for early “wins;” and
developing a 30-60-100-day action plan.
